Title:
Call to Jewish workers and laborers to support Yiddish schools
Description:
First page of a leaflet calling on Jewish workers and laborers to join in the celebration of the 20th anniversary of Yiddish schools in Bialystok even though there is little cause for celebration. The schools are under attack from all quarters, including the government, which keeps throwing bureaucratic hurdles in their path. Growing fascism has resulted in the schools getting less in the way of government subsidies. And the schools also have their enemies on the Jewish street . Other types of Jewish schools are alloted more funding by the Jewish community, including Tarbut schools, where instruction is in Hebrew and the student body is middle class.
